Tourism San Diego
Take a Trip to San Diego By Caitlin Moore
San Diego is one of those places that is perfect for vacations. The weather is always nice, the city is filled with diverse activities and cultural offerings, and beaches, mountains, and deserts encircle it all. Everywhere you look you’ll find something fantastic to see, hear, taste, or do, so if you have yet to visit California’s Southern end, get ready for a good time.
The natural features alone surrounding this mecca of vacationing opportunities are enough to fill a few days. Coronado Beach has been named one of the best in America, and it truly offers something for everyone. Swimmers, sand castle builders, and sunbathers will delight in the accessible conditions of the area known as Central Beach. Dogs and their owners can frolic in the leash-free zones, and body boarders can catch a few waves down on the south end. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and if you’d like to make this your base, vacation home rentals are available. If this stretch of San Diego is good enough for the President and his family (many former commanders-in-chief have stayed in this area), it should be good enough for you and yours.
Spice things up by adding some hiking and biking to your schedule. Miles of winding, peaceful trails will take you anywhere you want to go from the ocean to the peak of Mount Soledad. A coastal bike tour will acquaint you with some of San Diego’s loveliest neighborhoods, and a break at La Jolla cove will allow you to spend some quality time with a few seals and sea lions. Mission Bay offers flat trails, which are perfect for family excursions, and hikers up for more of a challenge can make their way to the top of Cowles Mountain, where they’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Mexico and the Lagunas.
